Description

Antique revival style pewter double salt.  Referred to as Historismus or Historicism. This box is very possibly German. Many examples like this dated circa 1890-1905 were produced in Germany. There are large numbers of pewter objects with similarly designed angel marks. It is possible to confuse some of these with earlier marks.
This is a classic form that can be seen within a number of earlier periods. Early examples of this form can be referenced in Pewter of the Western World by Hornsby p. 148. #413, Spice box, Dutch or Flemish Early 18th century. #416, left, late 18th century form found in France and Germany.
Condition - Very good to excellent. There is a light repair at the top of one leg.
Measurements - Length of cover - 3.6 inches. Width - 2.4 inches. Height - 1.7 inches.
