    Description

A lovely child playing and seated on the ground by a garden watering can and tub. She has become frighten by a stag beetle. She is alarmed, but brave, and is protecting her doll from any attack. This is a whimsical group and exceedingly difficult to cast such feeling and detail. It displays great fear and excitement, to the observer. Stag beetles are one of the most spectacular insects in the UK. The male's large jaws look just like the antlers of a stag. They spend most of their life underground as larvae, only emerging for a few weeks in the summer to find a mate. Stag beetles and their larvae are quit harmless and are usually a joy to watch. Height 5.5 inches; Length 8 inches; width 6 inches.
