    Description

    Nice antique brass horn book.  These were used throughout the 17th, 18th, & 19th centuries to aid in the teaching of children the alphabet.  The brass tablet would be attached to the belt of a child to be ready at all times and used as needed.  The back of the tablet is stamped with "St Pauls AD 1729," and this cathedral is located in Birmingham.   This antique may be a 19th century reproduction but no sure.
